Michael’s Closet is dedicated to Michael W. Smith, the father of Shaterra Smith, Founder and CEO of ETROY Inc. Michael’s love for music, art, fashion, jazz, and photography inspired not only his family but everyone around him. His impeccable taste and creative spirit often came to life in sketches, clothing designs, photography, and imaginative ideas, one of which became ETROY. In 1992, Michael created the name ETROY, which stands for Educate, Teach, Reassure Our Youth. As a man passionate about the next generation and the importance of education, “ETROY” became a meaningful phrase within the family, symbolizing inspiration, guidance, and empowerment. Michael was truly a creative and loving soul, and Michael’s Closet is dedicated to honoring his legacy.
Michael shared his immaculate fashion sense during over 30 years working in retail, where his dedication to providing a memorable style experience earned him the “Pace Setter” (Customer Service All-Star) award multiple times. Those lucky enough to meet “Smitty” on the retail floor were struck by his charm, guidance, and lasting impression. Always keeping up with the latest fashion trends, from high-end finds to thrifting, Michael knew how to walk through the world with confidence, care, and style.
Michael’s Closet carries forward the “Smitty Experience”, building pride and confidence in those in need through love, care, and commitment. It honors Michael’s dedication to giving back to the community while sharing the joy and empowerment that style and self-expression can bring.
ETROY is honored and excited to continue his legacy. Learn more below about how you can be part of Michael’s Closet.
